Saint Paul, MN – Day 42 / Capitol #48

The Minnesota State Capitol was designed by one of America's most prominent architects, Cass Gilbert, who also designed the  U. S. Supreme Court, the capitols of West Virginia, Arkansas, the Woolworth Building in Manhattan and helped popularize skyscrapers.  It is capped by a set of four gold horses representing the power of nature (Earth, Wind, Fire, Water), and lined on the inside with inspirational/spiritual quotes and symbols (This my kind of Capitol!) for the rule of law and nature, including eagles and the North Star).  A Lincoln portrait, thought by his son as one of the best, hangs above the Speaker's chair in the House Chamber and serves as the main focal point.  Special thanks to my tour guide (Julienne) and to Steve Sviggum (former House Speaker) for the help and guidance.  God, Liberty and Lincoln have a strong presence in Minnesota...this is a Capitol everyone should visit!
